Description
The glare off a DSLR screen in bright sunlight ruins focus pulling, and laying on the dirt to look at a fixed screen is worse. This builds a classic waist-level finder enclosure that mounts directly to the back of a Canon 650D. The mirror kicks the screen image up at 90 degrees, passing it through a top-mounted Fresnel lens, while four overlapping panels fold out to block the sun.
Mechanical Details
- Clearance: 0.5mm on the hinge knuckles. Use a piece of 1.75mm raw filament as the hinge pin for all four folding panels.
- Optics: The 45° mirror tray accepts a 64x64x1.2mm flat mirror. The top frame holds a standard flexible Fresnel magnifier sheet. Both trays slide out for cleaning.
- Print Orientation: The parts are laid out flat in the STL. The main enclosure is rotated to print like a cup, entirely without supports. The LCD window bridge has an internal chamfer to ensure the overhang prints cleanly.
- Fitment: The internal dimensions match the 650D's 3:2 screen (68x46mm opening). Add a 1mm adhesive rubber gasket to the recesses on the camera face to prevent plastic-on-glass scratching.

Integrated base: Flat-bottomed wheels keep it stable during printing. Recessed trim: Windows and grill are built as internal blocks to give depth to the side panels. Drop-bed: The rear bed is recessed 5mm behind the cabin to mimic the real utility platform.
Flush-Edge Bike Reflector Bracket
A robust, print-in-place mount for securing a 25x35mm front-facing bike reflector to a 12.5mm handlebar. Designed for maximum structural integrity, the mount prints entirely on its side. This orientation aligns the extrusion paths parallel to the flexing motion of the C-clamp, ensuring it can safely snap over the bar without delaminating. The clamp itself is shifted flush with the bottom edge of the mounting plate, allowing the entire assembly to sit perfectly flat on the print bed without requiring supports. Design Notes Glued Mount: The front plate features intentionally sharp 90-degree edges to perfectly frame the reflector while providing a flawless adhesion surface. All other exterior edges are softened. Hardware: The clamping mechanism accepts a standard M4x15mm screw and hex nut. Orientation: Prints as provided.
