Description

Lucent is a minimalist C-channel spine designed to hold two 1-inch thick, 4x6 acrylic photo blocks in a vertical stack. Rather than encasing the blocks, it grips them from the back using a continuous tension spine and two tiny retention tabs at the extreme top and bottom, remaining almost completely invisible from the front.

The entire assembly leans back at a subtle 7-degree angle. Because 2 pounds of solid acrylic has a tendency to tip, the clip features an extended, wedge-shaped rear foot that acts as a counter-lever, keeping the stack firmly planted on your desk.

Dimensions

  • Capacity: Holds exactly two 4" x 6" x 1" blocks stacked vertically (8" total height).
  • Clearance: 26.2mm deep slot with a 204.4mm height, allowing the blocks to slide in easily from the side without binding.
  • Footprint: 40mm wide by 75mm deep.

Print notes

When you import this into your slicer, lay it flat on its side. Printing it sideways ensures the layer lines run continuously along the entire length of the spine. If you print it standing upright, the layers will run horizontally, and the leverage of the heavy acrylics will snap the spine across a layer line. Printed flat, it requires zero supports and is essentially unbreakable.
